Local soldier only pretending to miss home.

When Army Lt. Steven Jamison deployed to Iraq from his base in Fort Campbell Kentucky, he hugged his family and pretended he would miss them. Like many soldiers, he looked forward to his mission and concealed his delight at the prospect of getting away from the stress and rigors of family life for a while.

Presently camped on the outskirts of Baghdad battling sandstorms, scorching temperatures, and fierce opposition, Jamison said, “This is a living hell here in Iraq but it’s better than the trauma my wife would impose on me if I were home.

Jamison said he realizes eventually he’ll have to make the sad journey home but for now he’ll enjoy himself and keep ordering lower ranked enlisted soldiers to send postcards home on his behalf.”
